Terms and Conditions (“Terms”)

Valid as of Creation: 5/8/18 | Last updated: 8/27/2018

Please read these Terms and Conditions (“Terms”, “Terms and Conditions”) carefully before deciding to submit your Writing (“Writing”, “Story”) to storyzine, owned & operated by E.L. Drayton (“my” or “mine”).

The appearance of your writing in any and all publications of storyzine is conditioned on your acceptance of and compliance with these Terms. These Terms apply to all who submit their writing to storyzine.

By submitting a story for publication to storyzine you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms do not proceed with submitting your story.

A Note on Reddit & Discord

There may be language that references Reddit or Discord specifically as members of both communities contribute to storyzine. The mention of either does not in any way signify a partnership or exclusivity. Storyzine is its own entity and operates with its own rules separate from regulations set forth within Reddit, any Subreddits, Discord, any Discord Servers or anything related to these communities and others like them.

Submissions

Once you submit your writing the only way to have it removed from publication is to contact the Team Leader. Any edits you make after submission will not be accepted or substituted for your revision. Make absolutely sure what you are submitting is 100% complete to your satisfaction.

Username, Name & Pen Name

When you submit your story we ask you for any combination of the two above. Why? In order to properly connect you with your story, we require you submit a name to associate it with. We DO NOT accommodate the use of “Annonymous” in the issues at this time.

Email Requirement

As a precaution against someone trying to submit stories under multiple Username/Name combinations, we require an email in order to submit a story to Storyzine. This email address must be valid as it will be used to communicate to you, the writer when your Editor Comments are ready for review. If we receive a kickback that the email used is incorrect your story will be excluded from the issue.

Multiple Pen Names

At this time, whatever Pen Name you use first when submitting to Storyzine is the name that will be associated with all of your submissions. We cannot accommodate multiple Pen Names.

Disqualification & Exclusion

Storyzine will make every effort not to disqualify or exclude anyone without due cause or necessity. This includes, but is not limited to, violation of Rules for Submission, or a story that is considered to be too strong in violence and language.

All Prompt Submissions must clearly focus on the prompt chosen. If the editor or the Team Leader cannot determine with 100% surety that the submission goes with the prompt chosen then it will be excluded. This rule does not apply to Patrons who select the BONUS Prompt which means the submission does not need to adhere to any of the prompts for that given month.

Addition: Henceforth, any story containing cursing, derogatory language, phrasing (including slang), or extreme violence in any way will not be included in issues. Here at Storyzine we are trying to highlight work by writers who do not need to rely on “shock value” to gain its reader’s attention. Exclusion of such stories will not receive forewarning as this paragraph should suffice as your understanding of this new rule.

It is at the sole discretion of the Team Leader to determine the validity of disqualifying or excluding a story from publication. The writer of the disqualified or excluded story may not be told of this decision at any time pre- or post-publication.
